Bogota to Cali, Colombia

Sara arrived Bogota from Reno last night at 21:39. Being a good sport she was willing to hit the road this morning at 09:00.

What a day we had. The Garmin City Navigator South America got us out of Bogota and on the road to Cali. Traffic leaving at 09:00 was stop and go for nearly an hour. Real hard work on a loaded motorcycle.

Spent most of the day riding over s couple of mountain ranges. Two lane highway with more trucks than I thought existed. 7 to 8 mph up the hills with 180 degree switchbacks at probably a 10 to 15% grade. Then in to the fog and then heavy rain with no where to stop and put on rain gear. Got in to Cali after dark, in the rain and the GPS address didn't get us to Casa Blanca Hostel. We hired a taxi and followed him. Quite the introduction for Sara.

First real view of the Andes.

Bananas

Selling mangos along the road.

A 296 mile day that with the rain and trucks ended up with are getting in at 20:15.

Meet three guys from the U.K. riding Beemers and heading to Ushuaia. Had dinner with them at a local Italian restaurant.

For got to turn on SPOT today, a first. Must be the excitement of having Sara join us.
