Valparaiso to Santiago, Chile

They didn't serve breakfast until 09:00 at the Robinson Crusoe Inn so we enjoyed a lazy morning and departed at 10:00.

Ready to roll.

Coming down the hill from the neighborhood where the hotel is located was much like the ride up the hill. When we came out on to the street at the bottom there was a group of taxi drivers standing around and they cheered. Wow, what a relief to make it down without dropping the beast.

The ride over to Santiago had a couple of long tunnels but the highway was just like a California freeway.

Once we got to Santiago there were a number of very long tunnels under the central city that actually had on and off ramps. I've never seen anything like them.

Bikes safely parked at hotel. Noticed that folks leave their helmets on their bikes, a sign that we're in a civilized city.

We're staying at the Manquehue Hotel in the Las Condes neighborhood - an upscale part of the city.

Tonight we may have to sample the pork .

It's summer here so diffucult ti know that Christmas is not far off, until we see all the decorations.

Tomorrow we're back on the road. Should be in Bariloche, Argentina on Wednesday, so we'll be crossing the Andes.

We arrived here at noon, an 82 mile run.
