Los Mochis to Mazatlan

10 October 2011

Hit the road at 08:45 for Mazatlan after a pancake breakfast at the Santa Anita Hotel.

Ready to roll. Good to be back on the bike.

Today we crossed the Tropic of Cancer at 23 degrees north. Didn't realize it until we'd passed the sign. Didn't go back for a photo.

We're at the Bel Mar Hotel for the night. Nothing fancy but a deal at 400 pesos ($35US). A sidewalk coffee shop next door called the Loony Bean. As we rode by the owner waved us in. We had to stop.

Drove through the hotel lobby

to park the bikes in an inner courtyard for the night. Pretty common in this part of the world.

A walk on the beach before dinner.

It was a 293 mile day, fine four lane highway all the way. About $18 in tolls. Rolling hills through farmland. Temperature range of 75 to 93. No sign of rain.

Tomorrow we're off to Durango and plan to meet a guy for dinner that Dave connected with on the AdventureRider web site. He use to live in Winnemucca but now lives in Durango. Small world.

Many locals we talk with know of Nevada, including Reno. They all know of Las Vegas.
