Oaxaca, Mexico Rest Day

Today, 18 October 2011 is a rest day in Oaxaca. It's a city you wouldn't want to miss if you were in the area.

Bikes safely parked in one of the two Anturium Hotel secure courtyards.

We walked downtown, about six blocks, to visit the Museo Nacional de las Culturas. Worth the walk!

Of course there was a noon demonstration, best I can figure it was about worker's rights.

The highlight of the day was finding a local bakery!

Tomorrow we continue south and will probably go as far as Junchitan. The last city in Mexico will be San Cristobal de las Casas. They've had some flooding but the blogs say it's possible to get to Guatemala. We'll play it by ear at that point and instead of taking #2 along the coast swing inland and pickup #1, the Pan American Highway. Fingers are crossed.
