Boquete to Panama City, Panama

We're here! 9,098 miles from Prudhoe Bay, AK, which leaves 6,778 miles to Ushuaia, Argentina.

Met this Canadian chap south of David, Panama this morning. His two buddies didn't get the proper paperwork crossing from Costa Rica in to Panama so were turned around by the police and had to ride back to the border to be reprocessed. A fear we all share. We're talking a lost travel day. They're on the way to Ushuaia also.

The clouds building as we ride south, trying to beat the afternoon downpour.

Typical highway in Panama. Saw Moto cops with handheld radar every five to ten miles. Got stopped three times for speeding. We were 5 mph under the limit and most everyone was flying by us. Two we tales our way out of by playing dumb, confused and giving a lot of smiles. The last guy, just out of Panama City got us for $30 (($15 each). Had Dave put the money in his saddle bag, then the cop searched the saddle bag and pockets the money. Actually the entire 'bad cop' thing is getting pretty old.

I'd include a photo of us crossing the Americas Bridge over the Panama Canal but just as we got there the heavens opened up and boy did it rain.

We hired a taxi to lead us to Panama Passage, the place we're stating, and even he got lost. Its a total tangle town and on top of that poor signage.

Tomorrow, which is a holiday in Panama, one of four or five in the first two weeks of November, we'll try to start the process of shipping (air freight) the bikes to Bogota.

We fly to Bogota on the 9th so between now and then we'll do some sightseeing and I'll post some pictures.
