Panama City, Panama

Made another run at the airport today to try to arrange flying the bikes from PTY to BOG. It's a four day holiday weekend here but Girag is working.

We drop the bikes off Monday morning, complete the paper work and pay Girag $902 cash. The bikes will go out Tuesday morning at 06:00, at least that is what they claim. It's only about a ninety minute flight.

By the way, there is what is known as the Darien Gap between Panama and Colombia. Just very dense jungle and no roads. The ferry service has ended for the season and anyhow we had no interest on being on a ferry for three days.

We fly PTY/BOG on Wednesday, Sara comes in on Delta from Reno on Thursday.

When we get the bikes cleared through customs in Colombia, which can take a day or two or three, we'll be rolling for Ushuaia, Argentina. Can't wait to get to some cooler, less humid weather.

Girag Cargo Facility at PTY.

I shared a cab to the airport this morning with Jarek Trapszo. His bike went out on Girag this morning at 06:00 so I'm waiting to hear from him when he gets to BOG and starts the process to clear the bike. He is riding a BMW GS. Most of the Adventure Riders we see are riding Beemers.

While I was at the airport Dave hiked up the hill behind where we're staying and took this photo of Panama City. Its an impressive city. I'll have to hike up there tomorrow morning. Also want to see the canal in detail Saturday or Sunday.

Andy, the fella from Wisconsin we met about ten days ago in Guatemala just arrived here at Panama Passage. It's a small world. He's headed to Ushuaia for the annual Christmas gathering. Adventure riders from all over the world meet in Ushuaia every year for Christmas. We'd have joined them but will be in Antarctica for Christmas and New Years.

Yup, that is a Wisconsin license plate.
